What the Year 2002 Means to Me The year 2002 is a year that holds great importance to me. It is a year that will have many different meanings to me: becoming eighteen, graduating, and the satisfaction that high school is over with college lying just around the corner.

In the year 2002 I will say "goodbye" to seventeen and say "hello" to eighteen. This year I will finally turn eighteen. It seems like just yesterday I was five years old and going into kindergarten. Now, thirteen years later the journey is almost over. Turning eighteen holds two different meanings to me. One is that I will have the right to vote. I look at this as a chance for my voice to be heard. By voicing my opinion through voting maybe I can make a difference in the world. Another plus to becoming eighteen is I will legally be an adult and I will be thrown into a place called "the real world."

The time has come for me to step into manhood one hundred percent. From this point on I plan to not rely on my parents to do everything for me. I guess one could say that you achieve freedom with turning eighteen. Turning eighteen also means that it is time to end high school and graduate.

For the last twelve years of my life, the year 2002 has been the apex of my public education adventure. Now the time comes for me to start another adventure, college. As I look back through the years I realize what significance the year 2002 has held for me. Graduation will be a huge milestone for me. This flight known, as high school is finally winding down and graduation will be the conclusion of it. Being able to graduate high school has been my goal all my life. No one in my family has ever graduated from high school, so I will become the first. Hopefully I will begin a tradition that will be clear in many generations to come. Graduating this year makes me very proud of what I have accomplished throughout my life. It will also mean that school is over and I get to take a long overdue break. High school has been an adventure that I will never forget, but now it is time for it to all comes to an end. I hope to make summer of 2002 a fun time for me. I'm looking forward to a little time off. However, college is approaching.

As I begin my college voyage I will be reaching maturity on a larger scale. I am thoroughly looking forward to furthering my educational career. Once again freedom plays a part in going to college as well. Being in college will also mean that I get to get out for a while. It means that I will have a life with more freedom and more adventure than the one that I lead right now, although it will also mean more responsibility on my part. College will give me a chance to meet new people and see things from a different point of view. I hope to get a great head start on making my life everything that I want it to be. I look at going to college as being a major key in making your life the way you want it. It will also be very special to me because I will be the first person in my family who has ever gone to college.

In brief, the year 2002 holds great meaning to me in so many different ways. All of these reasons, turning eighteen, graduating, and moving on to college. It is going to be a year filled with adventure as well as freedom!
