Fifty Shades of Grey Book Report

Fifty Shades of Grey is a novel about two completely opposite individuals who ultimately manage to overcome their immense differences. Although their personalities clash due to their many opposing values in life, they are able to eventually let each other in. Anastasia Steele is a 22 year-old college student who lives in Vancouver, Washington with her roommate and best friend Kate. Kate is a journalist for the paper at WSU, where her and Ana are on the cusp of graduating. Ana, as a favor to Kate, goes to Seattle to interview the "enigmatic CEO of Grey Enterprises Holdings, Inc.," Christian Grey. At this interview, she encounters the handsome and brilliant 27 year-old billionaire CEO. During the interview, Christian is very intense with his responses. Ana learns that Christian is a control freak, feeling as though he must control everything and everyone he comes across.

He turns the tables on Ana during the interview and begins to ask her personal questions. The conference ends shortly after and Ana leaves feeling embarrassed about the way she conducted the interview.

That same week, Ana has another encounter with Christian when he comes into the hardware store she works at. Christian buys what he needs and leaves by saying that he is glad Kate wasn't able to make the interview. Christian asks Ana out for coffee and Ana reluctantly agrees. They speak about their personal lives and Ana finds out that Christian does not "do the girlfriend thing". When the date is over, Ana tries to kiss him, but he refuses her and warns her to stay away from him. Later that week, after final exams, Ana receives a surprise package from Christian including first edition copies of Tess of the d'Urbervilles, which are worth thousands of dollars.
