Many cultures in the world are very unique and distinctive in thier own ways. From india and their temples, to China and it's history of kingdoms, many cultures still embrace their history. African culture, like many others, also has its history and traditions which play an important role and helps guideline its cultural values and folklore. Its variations of religions, intriguing styles of music, formations of dances, food, and it's definite language, all make up the influence of this culture around the world. As you read on, you will discover many different possesions the African culture has to offer.

Religion

Brazilian religious beliefs are very diversified and amalgamated. Brazilians are well known for not being strongly bound to any religious affiliations, but since the days of colonialism there were few religion that made their mark and became a staple for the rich cultural and religious traditions that many generations to come would partake and uphold with a strong will and conviction.

During colonial times, there was no freedom of religion. All Portuguese settlers and Brazilians were forced into Catholicism and were bound by the doctrines of the faith. Not only were they bound to the Catholic Church, but they were forced to pay taxes to the institution of the church. After Brazil became an independent Republic, one of the first constitution written in 1824, introduced the right to religious freedom, but Catholicism was seen and upheld to be the official religion of the newly constituted republic. The imperial government went as far as to pay the priests their monthly salaries, who in-turn influenced the appointments of future bishops.
