Why is it when a guy stands beneath a girl's window and throws pebbles to wake her up, its considered romantic, yet when a woman does the same thing, it is seen as desperate and psychotic? After seeing an episode of "Sex in the City" where Carrie tries to get Aidan back, she asked this question as she herself was throwing pebbles late into the night to get his attention. Although we are living in times where we've expanded what is considered okay for a woman to do, there are still acts, such as throwing pebbles to a window, that are still not easily acceptable.

Being a woman in today's society, we must hold back from some actions in order to keep our dignity. We feel, we want to do something, but we stop because it will make us look bad and besides, it isn't our job to do that.

So whose job is it? Why do we continually think this way when we are fighting to liberate ourselves from past? It is because we live in times where the mentality of society, as a whole is still changing. Many of us were raised in households, where we were taught that men should be chivalrous, because that is the way our parents and grandparents or whoever thinks. However, we are also influenced by the times, to pick up a new mentality where, whoa, wait a second, it is alright to pay for dinner, it is alright to ask a guy out on a date, it is alright to do so many things now that past generations were not alright to do. So we, as women are caught in the middle, struggling within ourselves to figure out what to do and what we still shouldn't do. We still have...
