Pollution has been one of the major conflicts around the world since the industrialization of countries and the growth of technology. It is considered as one of the most serious environmental problems in urban areas around the world. Pollution is a contamination of the atmosphere by gaseous produced by the burning of fossil fuels, liquid, solid wastes and by products that can endanger human health and threaten the wealth of plants, animals and even their habitats. According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (2014) "The health effects of air pollution have been reported in research studies over the past 30 years", causing respiratory diseases such as asthma, cardiovascular diseases, changes in lung function, and death. In this essay I'm going to talk about the air pollution in the cities and their effects on living things. The air contains varying levels of pollutants that from motor vehicles, industries and house chemicals.

All around the world people is used to move from one place to another, no matter how far or close they are from that place, by the use of their vehicles (cars and trucks). Without knowing that one of the main sources of air pollution comes from cars, everyday vehicles burn a big amount of fossil fuels, producing over a third of the carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides in our atmosphere. In most of the biggest cities, such as Los Angeles and Beijing, cars are the main source of pollutants. Each time people start up their car, the burning of petroleum in the engine releases carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide gasses, which flew to the atmosphere, causing damages that for us it is impossible to see but it is possible to feel.
