This essay will focus on the success of the Canadian band, Alexisonfire. First, I will discuss the type of music they play, information and history of the band, their origin, albums they have produced, awards and nominations they have received, and finally, side projects from members of the band. In my conclusion, I will give my opinion on the band and their music.

Alexisonfire is a five piece "hardcore" band who originated in St. Catherine's, Ontario, Canada in 2001. The band consists of George Pettit (vocals), Dallas Green (guitar, vocals, piano), Wade MacNeil (guitar, vocals), Chris Steele (bass guitar), and Jordan "Ratbeard" Hastings (drums). Jesse Ingelevics was the band's original drummer, but as of June 14, 2005, he departed from the band. Jesse made a statement on the band's website saying he and the band slowly grew apart, and he needed more time with his family and fiancee.

Alexisonfire released it's first EP, Math Street Demos in 2002.

Their first self titled studio album, was also released later that year. This album faced hard times and hardly received any airtime, which still holds true today for the band regardless of their popularity. But, this wasn't enough to dampen the band's spirits; they broke out in the underground and eventually went mainstream with the help of MuchMusic. Their cd Alexisonfire eventually went gold in Canada, while their softmore album, Watch Out! (released in 2004) did not do as well. However, their most recent album, Crisis which was released in August, 2006, debuted at number one in Canada. The album also registered as number 189 on the billboard top 200.
