Essay 3 Proposal

This essay will be comparing World War 1 to World War II. These were the largest military conflicts in human history which involved military alliances between different groups of countries. The three subtopics that will be discussed will be the triggers and causes of each war, the methods of warfare, and the results and outcomes of each war. In terms of casualties, World War II was worse because there were over 60 million deaths; 38-55 million civilians and 13-20 million from the war. An estimated 10 million military men were found to be dead and 7 million civilian deaths in World War I. The spark that started World War 1 was the assassination of Austria's Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie on June 28, 1914 while World War Two in Europe began on September 3rd, 1939, when the Prime Minister of Britain, Neville Chamberlain, declared war on Germany.

It was started by Germany in an unprovoked attack on Poland. Britain and France declared war on Germany after Hitler had refues to abort his invasion of Poland. This essay will intend to show how Germany was blamed for WWI and consequently severly punished. Most Germans felt that the Treaty of Versailles was unfair to Germany. This caused a deep resentment by the German people against the war winners. They therefore elected Hitler who promised to disregard the treaty. Election of Hitler was the first step towards WWII. World War II left the political alignment and social structure of the world significantly changed. The war ended with the total victory of the Allies over Germany and Japan in 1945.
