America in 100 Years What will America be like in 100 years? I'm not really sure. I'd like to say it will be improved. There would be no crime, corruption, or environmental problems, it would be the perfect place to live. But at the rate we are going now, America could be very disappointing in 100 years.

Betsy Carpenter, a staff writer for "U.S. News and World Report" and editor for "Science" magazine stated that with more people in America there would be more pollution. She was referring to Presley Creek, an inlet on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. Sadly, many Americans all over live in very polluted areas due to streams and rivers being used as dumps. Landfills are becoming over-filled with debris and individuals take it upon themselves to litter our highways and trash the natural beauty that exsisted in our rivers and streams.

Industry contrubuted to a lot of the pollution.

Chemicals very dangerous from plants and factories were not discarded in a safe proper fashion, but were instead hauled to small streams in drums and emptied into the water.

Many died upon becoming exposed to this health hazzard from either direct contact or simply by consuming it through their drinking water. Citations and huge fines were warranted to some companies, but so many companies still continued to pollute with innocent victims dieing due to their no conscious and malicious act to harm.

Our government needs more task forces to save our environment. The honest American people are suffering and losing lives without those guilty being caught and put out of commission. 100 years from now, I forsee a serious problem due to pollution. Our government needs to start now and not sit aside another life. We are all tax payers, we voted them into office and we want the satisfacton of knowing we can be safe in America. I hope we are a nation strong enough to end this problem.

Lately, everyone has been talking about cloning humans. Rebecca Mead, a British journalist and staff writer for the "New Yorker" wrote "Eggs for Sale". Cloning eggs and making a "perfect" individual is a scientific experiment that goes against mother nature. We are individuals born into this life without a price tag attached.

There are a lot of people who despise cloning. Scientist have only cloned animals and say there are "no known side effects." But say the do clone humans, and suddenly the side effects appear, would it be to late to fix? And what's going to happen to the children who are available for adoption? They won't be an "egg for sale", therefore giving them a disadvantage. I forsee many heartbroken children not being placed in loving homes through adoption. These children will be the unwanted ones.

So, will America be a perfect place to live in 100 years? I don't think so. There will be an ungodly amount of pollution. People won't be able to drink their own water or even go outdoors with the risk of getting sick. Clones would have all the power and money, and the real humans would all be in the working and lower class. If things don't change in America now, I think it's going to be a disaster in 100 years.
