Anglo-Saxon Essay Values are what make us who we are. For example, loyalty is an important value in many societies. The Anglo-Saxons had values similar to ours. Their society was based on these values. The three most important Anglo-Saxon values were loyalty, lineage and heroism.

Loyalty was also important to the people during the Anglo-Saxon period. It was important because the people were loyal to the King. For example, in Beowulf these words "that I, alone and with the help of my men, / may purge all evil from this hall" (lines 244-245) show how Beowulf's men are loyal and they are going to stand by him. And that he believes in them and knows they will be there for him. I can relate this to my life because loyalty is like respect. I am loyal to my family. Everybody is loyal to someone. Loyalty is a part of everyday life.

Lineage was also important to the people during the Anglo-Saxon period. It was important because your lineage decides what role you play in society. For example, in Beowulf these words "tell me your name, / and your father's " (lines 1477-148) shows that he asked his name and his fathers name. So he could know who he is and his family history by his father's name. I can relate this to my life because your family history is important. If your name is known widely as a rich, wealthy name, People will think of you differently than if your name is known as a murderer.

Heroism was important to the people during the Anglo-Saxon period. It was important because being a hero is the highest and most respected status besides king. It also gave you the opportunity to do anything. For example, in Beowulf these words...
