As the 21st century continues our planet is continually changing, causing habitats to be altered and modified. Animals are being killed all around the world which leads to be threatened, endangerment or possibly extinct. The purpose of animals in the world is that each one has a special role that causes a shift in the balance of nature and has a chain effect. When one species becomes extinct, other species are affected. Soon or later a living thing dies out because it cannot keep up with the natural changes in its environment. Species are becoming extinct at an alarming rate. Protecting the endangered species in the world can be a difficult challenge because their natural habitats are being destroyed by the people who live amongst them. Habitat destruction, introduction of new species, and hunting/ trading are the main causes of all endangered animals and has become a serious problem.

The animals' habitat can be destroyed in varieties of ways.

Climate change and pollution have a negative effect on the wildlife. For example, global warming associated with the greenhouse effect can jeopardize the survival of species. Moreover, toxic chemicals and trash are dumped in lakes, causing the death of several fishes. When this happens there is not enough to feed the bears and other wildlife. One of the leading chemical, Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) and other types, can interfere with the egg shells of birds and impair reproduction in some carnivorous. As stated in Scholastic News, "As the human population increases, tropical forests, wetlands, grasslands, and other natural areas are cleared, settled, and developed and their resources harvested for human use." (Ricciuti, 7) Mankind has been rather cruel in the way that they have been dealing with various practices such as logging and deforestation.
