QUESTIONS FOR ALL GROUPS
Design a correlational study to investigate the relationship between these two variables. Where will you collect your data. What techniques, if any, could you use? What is your initial hypothesis? How will you operationally define and measure the two variables?
Assume that your study reveals a positive correlation. What are at least three possible causal explanations for this relationship?
Choose one of your causal relationships and design an experimental study to investigate the variables.
What is your new hypothesis? What type of hypothesis does the experimental method allow you to test that the correlational method does not?
What is your independent variable? What is your dependent variable? Control group?
How will you make sure that the study has a high internal validity? Will you be able to randomize the participants in your study?
Do any ethical concerns about the treatment of participants emerge from your experimental design?
