The day of the World Boxing Championships was a dark and rainy one, which was unusual for Barcelona considering the time of year. Tommy, a hopeful for the title arrived at the venue feeling nervous, and as the day wore on and matches began he started feeling more and more anxious to get in the ring and box. Mike, his coach came up to him and said, "You are up, let's go." Tommy got into the ring and touched gloves with his opponent Jack. Jack was a World Champion at 205 pounds, and he was someone who Tommy had faced several times, but never succeeded in winning against. The match began, and they both squared off. Jack threw a couple jabs at Tommy's face which he was able to block, but suddenly out of nowhere Jack threw two big right hooks which knocked Tommy out instantaneously.

Tommy was knocked out for a couple minutes, and when he woke up his head was hurting, and he was finding it difficult to see properly. He told his coach who called the ambulance to take Tommy to the hospital so that they could get him checked out just to be safe.

After arriving at the hospital forty-five minutes later, the nurses did the usual pre-testing of checking his blood pressure, urine sample, and taking a blood sample. Tommy was lying on the bed when he felt a throbbing pain in his head unlike any pain he had ever felt before. He started to panic, and one thought dominated all others, will I be able to box still?

According to the Doctors, Tom had minor brain damage and although not safe, he could if he wanted to continue with boxing. Although, the Doctors did warn Tom that...
