I. The barbed wire was invented by Leonce Eugene Grassin-Baledans in 1860. It was used as fencing wire, consisting of flat and thin wire with bristling points. The writing will be about when it was created. In addition, the events that came before it and how it influenced people.

II. Facts for why the barbed was created and that time and place.

Barbed wire was a major source in the U.S. West with the "Big Die Up" incident in the 1880's.

From the 1500s to 1800, livestock enclosures was made from rail fences of timber , rock walls, brush, hedge fences and ditches. The shortage of raw materials and the amount of labor required in construction limited these fences to small enclosures around homesteads and ranches.

John Gates moved to St. Louis and founded the Southern Wire Company, which became the largest manufacturer of barbed wire. An 1880 US District Court decision upheld the validity of the Glidden patent, effectively establishing a monopoly.
