Abstract

All leaders and their leadership abilities and styles do not fit one mold. Many people today are seeking to understand leadership and many people are writing about the concept of leadership today. It can be quite confusing to try to understand a great deal about leadership because different people tend to talk about leadership from many different perspectives, contexts, etc, and many people do not realize these differences. This report will entail what it takes to making a total commitment to becoming a great leader.

Leadership

Leadership, what exactly is it? According to Richard L. Daft he says, that Leadership is "an influence relationship among leaders and followers who intend real changes and outcomes that reflect their shared purposes." Furthermore, "It is important to remember that most people are not born with natural leadership skills and qualities, but leadership can be learned and developed" (Daft, 2002). Studies have determined there are certain traits that most leaders have in common, drive, desire to achieve honesty, integrity, self confidence, the desire to lead, etc.

But, I believe that the most critical trait, ability or skill, is one that is learned through the power of observation and experience. To be an effective leader one must understand human nature. A key to becoming an effective leader and exercising competent leadership is to know how to effectively utilize all of ones resources to achieve that goal or mission one is undertaking.

Benefit to the World

The world has benefited by gaining numerous individuals that this leader has had the pleasure of educating. The world will continue to house this leader to inspire those who wish and to strive for success. People can study the pattern that has driven this person to the title of a great leader but will also understand that the success...
