Expository Essay Outline

An outline is a helpful organizational tool. An outline can be used to organize information for studying purposes, or to organize information for writing. Place the information you discover under the appropriate headings. Once you have completed the outline, each main heading will serve as the basis for a paragraph. The subheadings beneath each heading will serve as the content of the paragraph. Before you know it, you will enough material to write a draft of your essay.
Introduction-There are three main parts:
Your "hook" or lead, attention getter AND relate the theme of the essay more broadly

Transition: The second part of the introduction is meant to be a bridge between
the universal (the lead) and the specific (the thesis). Usually 1-3 sentences.

Thesis: The thesis is the last sentence of the introduction, and thus is the anchor for the
rest of the essay
