:Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston on the 19th of January, 1809. His parents were David and Elizabeth Poe. They had three children: Henry, Edgar and Rosalie. His mother Elizabeth died in 1811, when he was two years old. His mother and father had separated, with Henry, Edgar and Rosalie leaving with their mother. The siblings were all split up; Henry went to live with his grandparents, Edgar was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. John Allan and Rosalie was taken in by another family. He wrote letters to John Allan pleading for money, but no relief came. John Allan died in 1834 and did not mention Edgar in his will. In 1836, Edgar married his cousin Virginia. She was born on August the 22nd, 1822 and married Edgar in the May of 1836. He was 27 and she was only 13. Edgar was a struggling writer; always in and out of jobs. He barely had enough money to support his family and often Mrs. Clemm had to contribute financially.
