a) The name of the Biome that I have chosen to do my assignment on is Rainforests. Rainforests are found mostly around the Equator, across South America, Central America, Africa, South East Asia, Australia and nearby islands.

b) Rainforests are very dense, warm, wet forests. They are homes to millions of plants and animals. The types of animals that live in Rainforests are butterflies, beetles, spiders, ticks, worms, snakes, lizards, frogs, toads, parrots, toucans, sloths and jaguars. That’s just to name a few.

c) The most important impact that human activities have on rainforests is Deforestation. Deforestation causes the process of transferring moisture from the earth to the atmosphere by evaporation from water and the removal of important minerals. Human activities in the rainforest such as logging, mining and transpiration of plants, increase carbon dioxide levels and the removal of important minerals get decreased. Human activities in the Rainforest such as logging, mining and farming involve removing the natural vegetation.

There is little protection for the soil when vegetation is removed. The vegetation no longer protects the soil from heavy rain. Also, the soil becomes loose by the roots becoming removed. The heavy rain washes the soil away.

d) I have come up with some ways that we can help to reduce the impacts of human activities on Rainforests.

Teach - others about the importance of the environment and how they can help save rainforests.

Restore - damaged ecosystems by planting trees on land where forests have been cut down.

Encourage - people to live in a way that doesn’t hurt the environment.

Establish - parks to protect rainforests and wildlife.

Support - companies that operate in ways that minimize damage to the environment.
