The book The Lord of the Flies was written by William Golding. William Golding was the author of many books, The Lord of the Flies was his first book; another book he wrote was The Inheritors. The Lord of the Flies was copyrighted on 1954.

This book takes place in a thick jungle on an island. The island has a big mountain in the center of it, and pink granite covers the island. The story isn't clear about when it takes place but it is sometime during a war.

The book includes almost every type of conflict in it; the most apparent type of conflict I saw is person against society. At the beginning of the book I thought it would be a person against nature, but that wasn't the case at all. Survival for the boys was actually very easy, there were ample amounts of fruit, they built shelters, and there were even pigs for a source of meat.

The real conflict came when one of the boys disagreed with the priorities that the chief set. It was that boy who single handedly tore apart the society that had been built on the island.

I chose to read this book for my book report because a few of my friends had read the book and said that it was pretty good. I also thought that this book would be the kind of genre I like, and it was about the length I was looking for. I thought that this book was very creative with its plot, and in its portrayal of human nature. The book had many twists in the plot that I never expected to see, which makes it very interesting.
