The Bus Story, Told By Little Man " I'm sick of it, everyday when we go out for the bus all dem' white people, with dem' buses always get us wet. It ain't fair, we don't do nothing wrong." " Don't worry about it little man. Dem' white folk just think they're all big, don't let it get to ya." "But big ma." "Little man." "Fine." That day we went out for school early but I had a feeling that the bus was going to get us. When we got to the crossing we still had time to spare "Hey do you hear that." "No." "Listen." "T.J. you're hearin things." "Hey I hear it, its getting closer." A motor noise was coming closer. In the distance we could see something, but it wasn't a bus. It was Mr. Granger's Packard, a silver one, one of a kind. After that the bus came.

I didn't want to be embarrassed again. With little time an nowhere to hide, we decided to try to jump to the bank, but unfortunately we couldn't make it. We landed in the slimy gully. I was so mad, the water was up to my chest. I tried to throw a clump of mud at the bus but it fell several feet away.

After that incidentStacey promised me that this would never happen again, or at least for a long time.

Then Jeremy came, he tried to cheer us up but it wasn't working. If we weren't in such a terrible mood I would have thanked Jeremy for always being there but I didn't think that this was the right time. When we got to school Stacey told me to meet her at the tool shed at noon, and she would tell us how to get our revenge on the bus.

We all met at noon in the tool shed. Stacey grabbed some shovels and we ran off to the gully. When we got to the gully we all started to dig in three different places. Finally it all came together as one hole. We took some buckets, filled them up with water from the gully and poured it all in the hole. We ran back to school as fast as we could, hoping that our muddy clothes would not be noticed.

All day at school all I could think about was the hole. I couldn't wait to get out of school and meet up with everybody. Finally when school ended we all caught up with each other and went to the ditch "Holy smokes, howd' it get so big?" "The rain little man." "SSSSHHHHH!!!, I can hear it." As the bus came we hid behind the bushes lying as flat as we could. I was so scared that we were gonna get caught and something really bad was gonna happen. I was excited as the bus came. It was almost perfect the way it fell in the ditch, nearly tipping over. The bus driver got out of the bus and cursed. It wasn't gonna be easy to get the bus out of the hole. I could tell the kids inside the bus were mad. Getting revenge was great.
