Whenever the basics of the Christian faith are mentioned the Resurrection is always listed among them. The Resurrection is at the heart of the Bible - it is what God has done for us in Jesus Christ. Belief in the resurrection is a major part of being a Christian.
However, sometimes we are led to wonder that, if our sins were taken by Jesus as the supreme payment and sacrifice, weren't our sins covered at that point? Why then did He need to rise from the dead? A simple answer to this is that it proved Jesus was more than just a normal man - He was the Messiah and the Son of God.
Some modern Christians feel that the Resurrection is impossible, and cannot accept it. Although it may not seem scientifically possible, we must remember that Christianity is all about faith. Christians must believe in, not question, the Bible.
You can't pick what parts of it to believe in - it all fits together as a whole and we must accept it all.
Some people can be extremely good and follow Jesus' teachings, without believing He has risen from the dead. But if He isn't still alive, then the concept of eternal life is wrong. Jesus' Resurrection proved to us that His followers will not die, but will go to Heaven with Him. If we don't believe that Jesus is alive, then He cannot help us today.
The great event is a testimony to the accuracy of the Bible. Dozens of prophecies were recorded about the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus hundreds of years before they occurred.
