To Kill a Killer Topic: Capital Punishment Specific purpose: To persuade the audience to vote against capital punishment.

Thesis statement: By disagreeing with capital punishment, people as a whole will be able to save money, do what is morally right and end this cruel and unusual punishment.

Introduction Attention material: Do two wrongs really make a right? No, of course not, our entire lives we have been taught that hurting someone or even worse, killing them is the wrong thing to do. Good afternoon, today I will be telling you why you should disagree with capital punishment and to listen to the other alternative punishments there are to the death penalty.

Credibility material: Before I began researching this subject, I was a strong believer in capital punishment. I felt much like James did, "Anybody that kills another person should be put to a slow and painful death." After really researching this topic, my narrowed mind began to open up.

I began to realize the problems that are associated with the death penalty. In addition, my views on capital punishment have changed dramatically.
