As a child, I was unsure of what I wanted to be. Like most children, the thoughts of being a policeman, fireman, nurse, or doctor floated through my mind. All I really remember wanting to do when I grew up, was finishing school. My grandmother would tell me, "Why are you rushing to grow up? When you get my age you are going to wish you were a little girl again." Now more than ever, I am more anxious to further my education, as much as possible, so I can start a career. It has been awhile since I was in elementary school, and I have decided what I want to do with my life. I would like to have a career in accounting.

In high school, I was introduced to my first accounting class. Math was always my favorite subject, so learning the basics of accounting was interesting to me.

After being chosen as one of the top three students in my accounting class, I was offered a job at a local tax preparation company. I was hired as a accounting clerk. Through my experiences there, I received more knowledge of accounting. Some of the different fields in accounting that I learned are bookkeeping, income tax, and payroll accounting. There is nothing better than working at a job and really enjoying what you do. The company I was working with moved their business out of the state. For the love of accounting, I decided to go back to school.

I registered at the local city college, where I took payroll accounting, patient billing & accounting, and a bookkeeping class. All three of these classes were very interesting. I had to make up my mind of what field of accounting that I wanted to work under. At that time, it...
