In the Center of Balance

"Whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something; it's because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It's your mission on earth" (22).

Every individual existing on this planet has a dream, yet it is extremely hard to define what exactly a dream is. It is an invisible yet powerful force motivating people to work harder. The journey of people chasing their dreams and overcoming obstacles is called one's Personal Legend. For me, my Personal Legend hides under the constant desire to sustain balance throughout my life. It is the wish to become a lawyer.

I was born in October as a Libra, therefore, I innately posses the inclination to balance. Since I started to have memories, I have always been the one defensing and advocating justice. Even as young as a 6-year-old kid, I tried to protect a young boy from being bullied by other kids.

I rushed in front of that boy, opened my thin arms, and shouted loudly, "Leave him alone!" Though I ended up being dragged away by my mother, I felt the emerging pulse of wanting equalities in every circumstance in life. Just like what Melchizedek states in the alchemist, "God has prepared a path for everyone to follow. You just have to read the omens that he left for you" (29). As I continued to grow up, this unstoppable desire had put me into constant embarrassed situations. Nevertheless, it grew from a simple wish of fairness into something more complicated. It generated the idea of me defeating injustice as a profession-to become a lawyer. As a result, I started to read different stories and watch different movies of successful lawyers.
