Pelzer describes how he endured unthinkable abuse at the hand of his own mother. He provides detailed accounts of the abuse and neglect as well as the emotions and pain he endured, his struggle to cope and survive, and how he eventually was freed from her and the hell he was living. A Child Called "It" is a disturbingly real example of how children are victimized through various forms of abuse.
"A Child called It" is a book that is known to be one of the worst documented cases of child abuse. Dave had to endure numerous types of abuse such as starvation, cruelty and torture for the majority of his childhood. When reading this book, I was shocked by the different levels of cruelty that Dave faced. I was amazed on how this book had a major impact in my life.
