Dear Mr. Stearn,
For as long as I can remember I have loved to draw anything and everything I have laid my eyes on. This love for art inspired my more specific love for design. Everything you see is design. Company logos, web sites, letterheads, anything from the layout of the McDonalds headquarters down to the coloring on a happy meal box are design. I'd love to be a part of that industry because there are endless possibilities of the things you can make with no restriction on creativity. I take a graphic design class at Saline High School through the south and west Washtenaw consortium and it is by far my favorite class because it is a place where I just have to be good at being myself to succeed. That is why I want graphic design or graphic communications to be the foundation of my future. During that class once a teacher from Ferris State University came and spoke to us about their program which is one of the leading programs in the nation.

Woodbridge Nathan Ferris, who in 1884 founded Big ...Ferris State is very appealing to me because their graphic communications degrees are within their college of business so I will end up with a business degree. Business was my second choice if graphic design did somehow not work out, but at Ferris State I won't have to choose either or. Their admission standards are: 2.5 high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and two of the three criteria below: (1) English ACT score of 16 or higher, or SAT Writing score of 370 or higher; (2) Math ACT score of 19 or higher, or SAT Math score of 460 or higher; (3) Reading ACT score of 19 or higher, or SAT Reading score of 430 or higher.
