Overview of the company
Choice Hotels International is a hospitality-based corporation. It was formed as Quality Courts United, founded by several Florida motor court owners in 1941 to reverse the poor image of roadside residences as warrens of travelers. The idea of providing value-driven guests affordable lodging in convenient and popular locations made Quality Courts success over the years. It began to sell franchises in 1963 and renamed Quality as Choice Hotels International in 1990. Today, Choice Hotels expand services by launching different brands include Comfort Inn, Comfort suites, Sleep Inn, Quality Inn, Clarion, Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, Roadway Inn, Mainstay Suites, Cambria Suites, Ascend Collection and Econo Lodge. The dominate position within lodging industry brings Choice Hotels into one of the leading hotel franchisors in the world with more than 6,200 locations in the US and more than 30 in other countries (Hoover's Inc., 2013, p. 2-3). (See Appendix A for more details).
