2. Find and explore a text which explores one or more of these issues. Your chosen text must be a novel, play or film.
My chosen text is 'Rabbit- Proof Fence' originally written by Doris Pilkington Garimara, Screenplay directed by Phillip Noyce.
3. Write a synopsis of your text. A synopsis is an overview which tells us what it is about and who the key characters are. It must also mention all of the ideas and issues examined in the text.
Synopsis
In the 1920~1970's, European authorities began to take action against the Aboriginal people. They believed that the Aboriginal blood could be 'bred out'. This was done by taking half-blooded Aboriginal children and having them reproduce with white people, effectively reducing the amount of Aboriginal blood in the newborn child. The Government officials, blinded by their Anglo-Christian culture and their certainty believed that they were 'helping' the Aboriginals in doing this terrible deed.

Map of the actual Rabbit proof fence showing the t...This story is set in 1931, and it is based around three protagonists known as Molly, Gracie and Daisy who are snatched from their very mother's arms in an Aboriginal area called Jigalong, Western Australia. They are sent to a remote settlement at Moore River which is over 1 500 miles a way from their home settlement. They are forced to adapt to Christian/European ways; they're expected to sing church hymns, say Grace and weave clothes and learn how to read and write. Molly, Gracie and Daisy spend a few nights at that Government Official camp and find that a girl had tried to escape just to see her boyfriend. She was whipped and had her hair cut so her boyfriend would lose interest in her. After seeing this, Molly decides that she needs to escape.

Comparison -To Kill A Mocking Bird (Harper Lee) and Rabbit Proof Fence (Phillip Noyce)
This essay is a reasonably good synopsis of "Rabbit Proof Fence."
As a comparison of that film with "To Kill a Mockingbird," however, it is a complete failure. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is mentioned twice: in the title, and in the bibliography. Beyond this, it is as if Harper Lee had never written the famous novel. If the essay were retitled, so that it referred only to "Rabbit Proof Fence," it would be a reasonable essay. As it stands now, however, it is not an acceptable product.
