The program that we are sponsoring this child through is Compassion Canada. Compassion Canada is a non-profit ministry. Sponsoring this child gives her a chance to be healthy, receive an education and most importantly it will give her a chance to receive bible training and attend Sunday school. Individually or as a group, we can communicate with our child. We can send as many letters and photographs as we would like to. Sponsored children typically keep their sponsors' photos and letters in their homes as treasured possessions. Our sponsored child will benefit from knowing that someone in addition to his or her family really cares. Our words of encouragement will make a big difference to our child. Our sponsor child will write back 3 times a year. Compassion Canada volunteers sit down with the children and help them get across to us what they would like to say. In addition to letters from our child we will receive periodic updates about our child's progress, a biannual publication about Compassion's work world wide, and newsletters about our child's country and Compassion's program there.

We will also be given the opportunity, if we would like, to someday visit the child we sponsor on a Compassion sponsor tour.

I know we all think that we can't make much of a difference because there are so many needy children but we can. We can give a child and her family hope as well as a chance to learn about the bible and the love of god. I think it would be awesome if we could do this as a youth group. Together we can show the love of god to this child. Right now we have 4 people willing to contribute to sponsoring this child. That brings the cost down to 7.75/ person/ month. If we had 5 people it would be just over 6 dollars and 6 people it would be just over 5 dollars. That is the cost of a meal at McDonalds. If we can give up one McDonalds meal a month we can save a little girls life and let her and her family know the love of god.
