Introduction: Kaya was a musician who was born in a Roche-Bois ghetto. Being Indian and mulatto, Kaya was the target of racists' attacks and having to get any kind of jobs even as a boy. He learned to play guitar at 16 and sang Bob Marley's songs. Kaya created the Racinetatan group with which he sings Marley's hits and his own songs. In 1986 he starts to mix Sega with reggae and campaigned for the Mauritian Creole People's rights.

Purpose: The main aim and objectives of this study are firstly to examine the life of Kaya and secondly to try to figure out what has really caused his death.

Methodology: In this study use of both primary and secondary data has been made, Secondary data have been collected from internet search. Primary data were obtained through unstructured interview with a total of 3 people. The benefit of using unstructured interview in this study is that it makes possible to probe into the answers of the interviewees. It allows the researcher to collect rich qualitative data.

Research Findings: All the interviewees are still a fan of the singer. They are all in their 40's and they still listen to Kaya's music during their free time. They work and two of them are married. Time has gone but their image of Kaya remains the same. They are all against these police officers causing the musician's death.
