To some people courage means taking the chance to walk outside in the rain. But what does courage mean to you? I think it means doing something that damages you but is the right thing. It might damage you mentally, physically, or emotionally. Courage is also facing your fears and conquering them. I'm going to tell you a short story about a girl named Nala

Nala lived in a desert village. The village's oasis had been filled with water for centuries but a freak accident of nature had wrecked everything. The only other water they knew of was a lake at the end of the earth. Now the end of the earth was no ordinary place. Magic spirits lurked there and heaven knows what else. Only a selected few could go. You had to have dark skin, grey eyes, hair to your neck, and long fingers among other things. The villagers desperately needed the water but couldn't find anyone who fit the criteria.

Finally on the outskirts of the village a 14 year old girl named Nala qualified. But she didn't want to go. In order to get to the serene lake you had to swim through spirits. Nala was terrified of water. When she was 2 years old she was dropped in the river. Luckily they saved her to before she was lost. But never the less knew she had to do this. She got ready for her journey. When it was time to swim with the spirits she took a deep breath and dived in. She was petrified. Something was on her foot yet Nala knew that she had to keep going. She fought her fears and made it to the end of the world and brought back the sacred water to her people. Her people were...
