There aren't enough adjectives to describe David Bowie. He's trendy, unique, incredibly talented, strong willed, and so much more. Most people call him a musical chameleon changing with all of the trends throughout his more than twenty year career. David Bowie is someone a lot of people can connect with and outsiders can relate to. In simplicity, David Bowie is a musical genius in every aspect.

Bowie's original name is David Robert Jones (In 1966 he would go on to change his name to Bowie after the hunting knife, to avoid confusion with the Monkees' Davy Jones) , born January 8, 1947 in a poor suburb called Brixton in London, England. When Bowie was 12 years old he got smacked in the left eye by a classmate for flirting with his girlfriend, which is the reason for the infamous large dilated pupil and bad vision in his left eye (Usher 1).

Bowie grew up with his half brother Terry who suffered from schizophrenia. Although Terry was always in and out of mental institutions, Bowie says he was an important early musical influence on him. He introduced him to Buddhism, rock n roll, and the writings of Jack Kerouac and jazz (Howell).

David Bowie's sexuality has been something to question throughout his whole career. Bowie has been married twice, his first wife was Mary Angela Barnett in 1970. He had a son named Duncan with Barnett in 1971, but they got divorced. His second marriage in 1992 was to supermodel Iman Abdulmajid who he currently has no children

with (Howell).
