In today's world market marketing means many different things to different people. Marketing may include things such as advertising in different types of media such as radio or television ads. Advertising has also become a very large part of the internet. Marketing can also include public relations, sales and promotion of certain products or a line of products such as beauty products for females. Customers are bombarded on a daily basis about products of all sorts and for all uses. The many different commercials advertising the never ending list of products has made it very difficult to obtain any real name recognition. Reaching new clients and keeping clients that a company already posses is the main goal of any marketing department. The expense of obtaining new customers is high so making sure that the customers continue to use your services is of great importance.

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary marketing is the act or process of selling or purchasing in a market or the process to sell, promote and distribute a product or service. The MSN Encarta online dictionary states that marketing is the business of presenting products in a way that makes them desirable. Marketing is defined as both of these but marketing is not only an act but an art that when used properly helps a product obtain a place in a marketplace that it would otherwise not have obtained. Marketing helps a company promote its product and it strives to develop a need for the product by customers using numerous types of avenues ranging from radio to the internet.
