Wood Density Lab Intro The data in this lab shows that the wooden blocks with a smaller volume and mass have a larger density. As you will see the more smaller the object the more dense this object is. In this lab we will be testing this with the use of wooden blocks.

Procedure For this lab you will need a scale, three wooden blocks of varying size, and a ruler to measure the dimensions of each of the solid wooden blocks. Measure all the dimensions of the blocks with the ruler. Weigh each wooden block using the scale to measure the mass of each block in grams. Find the volume of the blocks by multiplying the length by width by height. Then find the density of the wooden blocks by dividing the mass by the volume.

Results Length Width Height Volume Mass Density 10.2 cm 3.7 cm 3.7 cm 139.6

cm cubed 64 g 0.458 10.2 cm 5 cm 1.9 cm 96.9 cm cubed 43 g 0.443 5.1 cm 3.7 cm 3.8 cm 71.7 cm cubed 36 g 0.502 Conclusion The data shows that the wooden blocks with a smaller volume and mass have a larger density. The largest wooden block has a length of 10.2 cm, a width of 3.7 cm, and a height of 3.7 cm. The largest wooden block has a volume of 139.6 cm cubed, making the block the largest of the set. The smallest wooden block has a length of 5.1 cm, a width of 3.7 cm, and a height of 3.8 cm. The smallest wooden block has a volume of 71.7 cm cubed, making the block the smallest of the three. As you can see by the densities the smaller block has a larger density. I figured out the smaller an item the...
