Tiger sharks and Great Whites are alike in that they are both known to attack and in some cases consume humans or human body parts, and that they are feared from both on land and in the Sea by both human and other creatures that dwell in the ocean, and that they are both hunted by humans. They both differ in that they have different predatory tactics, they have different types of body compositions, and they have different areas in which they frequent or hunt.

Tiger Sharks and Great Whites in that they are both known to attack humans. Both of these sharks hold responsibility to most of the fatal attacks from sharks. Great whites account for about 1/2 to 1/3 of the attacks of which 10-15 people have died as a result from Great whites, with Tiger sharks trailing right behind in second place to the Great white for shark responsible for fatal human attacks. It has been recorded since ancient times of these great monsters that prowl the deep and devour human flesh. The people of Hawaii and Australia have great respect for the both of these feared species and do not underestimate them under any circumstances, many of their ancient stories revolve around Great whites and Tigers as they teach children at a young age to respect what they would call "sacred animals". Other cases such as in times of war, for example in WWII when one of the Japanese ships that contained American POWs was shot down by accident by an American submarine (A POW transaction was to take place) it left hundreds of American soldiers stranded in the Ocean only to be picked off and eaten one by one by Tiger sharks.
