The Crucible has moral issues that many people overlook. In the book the people of Salem, Massachusetts have come upon a problem. That problem is witchcraft. So should people admit to something they didn't do, even to save their own lives? Also in the movie it seems that revenge and hatred were more noticeable. These are problems people deal with every day. So is lying to save your life a bad moral? Would you lie to save your life? In the story the devil made you lie. There is more than one person who lies to save their life in the story. Abigail Williams States "I never called him? Tituba, Tituba"¦" she is passing the blame on to another to spare her own life. The will for survival is strong and will cause a person to lie and save him or herself. Also being told what to lie about will give a person the idea to lie to save his or her own life.

John Proctor lies to save himself; this doesn't work though because him being an honest man he could not go through with it. He is accused of a lie and need a lie to get out. John could not lie to save his own life. There are many who did lie but there were some who did not. Abigail lies in order to get Goody Proctor killed.

Revenge can be dark and hateful. Abigail is still in love with John and wants his wife dead. She wants revenge because she was kicked out of Johns house by his wife for adultery. There are times in the movie where this is present that she is still in love with him. At one time she gropes him wile they were alone. Another was when John was in jail.
