As I sit and ponder what has led the U.S to its recent economic woes, I can't help but think of what enormous problems our country faces ahead and how we might overcome them. I would like to focus this paper on what I feel are a few of our most recognized problems facing our current economy.

In this current day and age, there is a big emphasis on money as being an influential aspect in life. Many people, businesses and corporations have a great desire and yearning for money that seems to override all other thoughts. In the past The U.S. has seen its fair share of corporations that will not let anything stand in their way of expanding their wealth.

Many people have their thoughts on the subject, but I think the first and most vital concern is the difference between three classes in society: the poor, the middle class, and the wealthy.

Over the last few years, the economic state has been mostly good, and the stock market has even been on the rise too reaching its highest point not too long ago. However, the folks that have greatly benefited from this are those that have needed it the least. Only those individuals that bring in a reasonably high income have been able to afford the risk that comes with investing; therefore, they have been the ones who might possibly gain from it. The configuration of the open market only perpetuates this predicament-thus the rich get richer, while the poor get poorer.

Another major problem is the huge emphasis on keeping the environment healthy. Just in our own backyard here in Utah with the growth of new housing developments and businesses. A family member of mine working in the...
