Egypt: Religion Culture and the Afterlife

The document "Egypt: Religion, Culture, and the Afterlife" highlight the all of the parts in its title. The Document goes over how the Egyptian people where blessed with a stable government for many generations. The document also goes in to details how the government was run. Another part of Egyptian history the document goes into is the religion, particularly the gods and the obsessions that the Egyptian people had with the afterlife and the underworld.

The Egyptian people where ruled by a pharaoh or a king. The king headed a very strong government. The pharaoh was not the say all in Egyptian government. The pharaoh was also working with very powerful priests. The priests would help guide the dead to the afterlife with very elaborate ceremonies. The Egyptian people where obsessed with the afterlife.

There are several texts or books that are evidence of how the Egyptian people where obsessed with the after life.

The one book that the document "Egypt: Religion, Culture, And the Afterlife" discusses has become know as "The Book of the Dead". This book would help the dead pass on to the underworld with little trouble going through the horrors the afterlife. Another attribute of this book is to help the deceased have a very blissful afterlife in what is called "The Field of Reeds", which is the equivalent to heaven. These texts where not limited to the rich and powerful, many ordinary people also order the book for there burials.

The Egyptian people followed a polytheistic religion. There were gods for many things, some of the gods that the document "Egypt: Religion, Culture, and the Afterlife" were Re the god of the sun and Osiris the god who had the power of passage to the afterlife. With no god...
