Why I Want To Become An Elementary School Teacher
Since the tender age of 6, I've always known that I wanted to be a teacher. I can recall playing school either with my friends, or talking to my imaginary students all by myself. My name was always Mrs. Pollack, the same as my first grade teacher. I would write lessons on the blackboard, grade imaginary tests, take my class on nature walks around the schoolyard (my backyard), and other things related to school. This was my absolute favorite game to play. I've always wanted to make the game a reality.
For many years, I've always had such a love for children. My mother used to run a family day care in our home, and I have two younger brothers, so I have been surrounded by children practically all my life. Anyone who knows me, especially the parents of the children I baby-sit for, knows that I am good with kids and how much I love them.

This past summer, I participated in a couple activities related to teaching. I taught, along with an assistant, Vacation Bible School at the church I attend regularly. The feeling that I got from teaching the children a bible story and reviewing it at the end of the day and having them remember it, was incredible. It was mixed with pride, satisfaction, and accomplishment. I felt this feeling again when I volunteered at the local elementary school helping children in a summer reading program.
