Eminem Marshall Bruce Mathers III, better known as Eminem or Slim Shady, is a huge leader in the rap industry. He was the first rapper to go to such extremes and vulgarity in his lyrics and grace the pages of Rap Pages, VIBE, Rolling Stone, Spin, The Source, URB, and Stress and go on national tour months before their major-label debut album is released. Eminem is not the average rapper and has gotten to the top from the very, very bottom.

Eminem was born on October 17, 1975 in Kansas City, Missouri and was named after his father, who was obviously named Marshall. His father left six months after he was born to never return again. Eminem's mother, Debbie was diagnosed with a disease of some sort that made her think that Eminem was always sick. At the age of 5, Eminem, his brother, Robbie, and his mother moved from Kansas city to east Detroit, Michigan.

In the fourth grade, Eminem was terrorized every day by another student at his Detroit school and finally ended up in a coma. The student would beat him up anywhere and at any time. One time the guy beat him up in the bathroom while he was urinating.

Eminem began writing raps and recording himself rapping at the age of thirteen.

His brother was a huge rap fan and influenced him and his music. When he was fifteen, he met Kim, his high school sweetheart and future wife. Eminem dropped out of school at the age of seventeen. He started rapping in clubs in Detroit after going through many full-time, minimum wage jobs for the previous years.
