Employee motivation is the key to performance improvement. There are many things that can be done by supervisors to improve employee work performance. Such strategies are as simple as saying a simple 'thank you' or 'good job'.

Some strategies that would require some planning could be something like one of the following suggestions.

Strategy #1 MONEY !

Some type of cash persuasion would definitely motivate most workers. Cash and money incentives act as a catalyst to improve work performance and increase productivity.

A cash incentive such as a certain percentage bonus for every successful inquiry turned into sale will definitely get workers moving and get them to try harder to make the sale successful.

Similarly, a product or sales quota could be put into place and employees have to reach this quota in order to receive a cash bonus at the end of a certain time period, such as 6 months or 1 year.

Strategy #2 A FEW KIND WORDS !

It is as simple as saying a few kind words. It does not require much planning, but can really make the difference in employee performance and expectations. Be good to the employees, if they have done a good job, then let them know you appreciate it. When employees feel they are doing a good job and their supervisor or manager also sees that, it makes them feel good when someone says something to them. Here are a few examples:

Positive reinforcement

Treating people fairly and equally

Setting work related goals and expectations

After a job well done, give them a Thank you, or Nice work (makes the employee feel good about the job they have done)
