An American psychoanalyst Erich Fromm was born on March 23, 1900, in Frankfort, Germany. Fromm went to the Universities of Heidelberg and Munich, as well as, The Psychoanalytic Institute in Berlin. He received his Ph. D. from Heidelberg in 1922, where afterwards he immigrated to the United States in 1934.
The main reason why Fromm immigrated to the United States was because of all turmoil happening in Germany. The turmoil that was happening at the time was Hitler and the Nazi's party move to power. When inthe United States he studied more psychoanalysis and lectured at many institutions including Bennington College, New York University, Columbia, Yale, Michigan State University, and the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry.
