In Practical writing we watched "The Rookie" it was is about a middle aged science that became a major league baseball player. Jimmy Morris was the main character, he made a deal with his high school baseball team; if the team won district he would have to try out for a minor league team. The team did go on to win district, and Jimmy went to try-outs. When the scouts saw that he could throw a 98 mile an hour fastball he was a shoo in for the team. He would eventually go on to play in the major leagues for the Texas Devil Rays.

Respect means to feel or show deferential regard for; esteem. There is no better example of this than when Jimmy Morris gained Brook's respect through discovering his great personality and his unbelievable pitching ability. Also demonstrated in the movie was responsibility, the state, quality, or fact of being responsible.

Jimmy showed responsibility when he brought dinner home for his kids and wife. Optimism- a tendency to expect the best possible outcome or dwell on the most hopeful aspects of a situation. With only the slightest chance of becoming a major leaguer at his age Jimmy hoped for the best during his minor league career.

I believe that this movie demonstrates all of the school values, and should be viewed by all the students attending Albion High School. Jimmy Morris is a great role model and every one would gain from experiencing the ethics that are demonstrated in, "The Rookie."
