HARRIET BEECHER STOWE
Harriet Beecher Stowe played a very significant role in the civil war. Many people today still agree that Harriet Beecher Stowes novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was one of the reasons for starting the civil war. Even before Harriet Beecher Stowe's book was released many northerners were against the ideas of slavery, though they didn't understand the harsh realities of being a slave. Her book made slavery a reality. Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel created anti-slavery movents throughout the north. She affected American history forever through her writing. Harriet Beecher Stowe used her wonderful gift of writing to change the world and change slave rights forever, which she considered a sin.
Harriet Beecher Stowe changed the ideas of slavery in the north by showing them the real horrors of it. In the north Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel was such a success it moved people to tears, whilst in the south Uncle Tom's cabin was hated.

The reason southerners hated Harriet Beecher Stowe so much was because Harriet Beecher Stowe herself had never lived in the south or experienced their southerly ways. Although this is true she still used her visit to Kentucky as a template for the creation and basis of Uncle Toms Cabin. Many southerners believed that the reason Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was to create a false image of the south, even though this was a false statement in it's self.
