Being a young person in today's world is no easy task. Young people, as well as adults, have to deal with increasingly complex decisions and pressures every day. Sadly, many young people feel they are not able to cope, that there is no one who either cares enough or is able to help them cope. And they become desperate enough to take their own lives. What exactly is suicide, according to Webster it is the act or an instance of taking one's own life voluntarily and intentionally especially by a person of years of discretion and of sound mind. Suicide is a tragedy under any circumstances, but especially devastating for families and friend of young people. Fear and ignorance keep us from understanding the scope and problem of young people's depression and suicide, and hinder our ability to help.

The annual death toll from suicide worldwide is 120,000, and it is eighth leading cause if death in the United States, accounting for One percent of all deaths.

Between 240,000 and 600,000 people in the Untied States and Canada attempt suicide every year, and over 30,000 succeed. Suicide is the third leading cause of death of people ages 15-24 and men commit suicide four times more than women. Women attempt suicide four times more than men, males use more violent methods, such as handguns to kill themselves. Females usually tend to use methods such as overdosing on drugs or cutting themselves. 500,000 teens try to killing themselves each year, and 500 succeed it also kills youth three to six times more than homicide. There are many myths and facts to suicide.
