Executing technology changes is simple -- just like dieting for losing weight is effortless! Of course, anyone who has ever experienced either practice knows that both require a lot of hard work over a long period of time. When technology change becomes an influential element for organizations to survive in the uncertain environment, organizations need to think carefully about how should the technology change process be implemented and the reason for adapting it. Amazon.com, the well-known online retailer, is recognized for how it became a successful company from riding the internet hype. Whenever reading articles on Amazon.com, they only state how Amazon.com has became even more outstanding and innovative overnight within flip of hands. However, the underlying essence and reasons that reflect to the changes was never mentioned.

Noticeably, technology has been the most important element that influences Amazon.com, particularly, the rapid increases in the usage of Internet and IT.

Amazon.com have always been able to fully take the advantage of the new technology changes they have implement, such as the one-click checkout, individual customer marketing, and Amazon marketplace. However, at Amazon.com, they implement technology changes around their core value, which is the customer experience. "Bezos stressed the importance of Amazon.com's business model, which involves putting customer experience above everything else...He said the decentralized culture of the Internet startup helps direct attention to customer satisfaction..." (Liu, 2000) It is essential for organizations to know their own identify before applying any technology changes, because without a purpose, they are just following the trend rather than being extraordinary.
