One Page Overview of Essay

My paper is on the three stories "Eveline" by James Joyce, "Hills Like White Elephants" by Earnest Hemingway, and "What We Talk About When We Talk About Love" by Raymond Carver. I chose these three stories because they all relate in certain ways with relationships and the different views of love. Throughout these stories, it has a lot of dialogue, which shows the characters relationships with one another. With these relationships it shows the different point of views of love. These three authors writings are completely different and show many views of love and relationships. In "Eveline", this girl has never been loved nor shown any attention so she does not know what it is like to be loved by someone. She struggles with the inability to detach herself from her home and her lifestyle so she can't move on to someone who truly loves her and would give her the best life.

In "Hills Like White Elephants", the girl is so in love with this American, that she would literally do almost anything he told her to do. Although she always pictured the child as a wonderful addition to her life, the American has a strong influence on her decision of not keeping it. "What We Talk About When We Talk About Love", has different couples and it describes their views and opinions on love. Each couple perceives a different stage of love with talking about jealousy, pain, and misunderstandings between each other. My paper is going to show the symbolization of love and relationships in the story.
