Dear my dearest friend, July, 15, 1536 I just got back from Florence! It was the most outstanding and breathtaking place I have seen in my life! Florence is located in north central Italy. Florence is famous for being the birthplace of the Renaissance. It is home of some amazing accomplishments and places. The first amazing place I stopped at was Duomo di Santa Maria del Fiore. Then I went to Piazza della Signoria fowled by Fortezza di Belvedere.
I enjoyed my visit to Duomo di Santa Maria del Fiore. The most memorable thing there was Brunelleschi's dome. It was amazing that we could build such a structure, I guess I was not aware of how far our technology has come. Something I learned about Duomo di Santa Maria del Fiore was how the dome stays up. The dome doesn't collapse because it has eight sides and all eight sides support an equal amount of weight.
My second stop in Florence was at Piazza della Signoria. Bordering Piazza della Signoria is Palazzo Vecchio which is the site of the town hall. The most memorable thing that happened in Piazza della Signoria was seeing Michelangelo's famous David. Something new I learned about Piazza della Signoria is that when you want to purchase an item you must pay in Florins you can not trade any more. You must present the new form of currency called a florin.
My final adventure in Florence was Fortezza di Belvedere. My most prominent memory from Fortezza di Belvedere was being able to see all of Florence, a breath-taking site! Something I learned about Fortezza di Belvedere is that the fort is a massive structure in the shape of a six-pointed star. I also learned the walls were very thick to prevent being destroyed...
