All the food groups that are outlined by the food pyramid are essential to staying healthy. Everyone should pay close attention when eating meals and snacks so that they are sure to consume the right amount of each food group. People, who do not take in enough of certain food groups will in turn, fail to take in enough of the recommended amounts of vitamins and nutrients. Our bodies rely on our intake of certain micronutrients in order to function properly and stay healthy. Eating healthy is not just something that people do in order to keep their bodies healthy, but it also helps to keep their minds healthy and focused. There are many times that I will go without eating, or will eat things that are terrible for me, and afterwards I feel like doing nothing but sleeping. Not only does my body feel tired and unmotivated, but my mind feels like mush.

There is so much more to calories than just fat and saturated fat.

A person can consume about 1600 calories a day and still not consume more than 30 percent of their calories from fat. According to the pyramid tracker, I only consumed 28.1% of my calories from fat. This is a great number because it right about where it should be according to the recommended 20%-35% per day. A person can also consume about 16 grams of saturated fat in one day and still be below the maximum recommended amount of 10%. I only consumed 9% of my calories from saturated fat.

If a person consumes a high fat food they can always eat fat-free foods the rest of the day in order to not exceed the total amount of fat that is recommended per day. If a person chooses to eat a low-fat version...
