Schwarze 1Global warming has been a depressing thought in the backs of everyone's mind for at least the past two decades. Every now and again a story on the TV or in the paper reminds people of the ominous threat climate change causes around the world. Extensive research has been done about what causes global warming, what damage it will do to the earth, and how it can be slowed down or stopped. In the end of all the investigation, one thing is most certainly true, global warming, if not stopped, will in very little time destroy our fragile world, leaving future generations to suffer the consequences. Although some people believe that Global Warming is nonexistent or that it will cause minimal damage to our environment, several studies and research have provided evidence that Global Warming is presently happening, the main cause being from human activity.

The negative consequences have already started to take effect in the United States posing a looming threat that can be catastrophic by harming human health, rising sea levels, increasing pollution, and so much more.

To begin to understand the major impacts global warming is making on the world, it is important to understand when it started to become an emerging issue in the United States and why it started to plague the country. Global warming has not been produced naturally; it is primarily a direct cause of human activity. However, it is not hard to recognize that only recently has global warming been a problem of the late 20th and early 21st century. When did all the commotion surrounding this subject begin?
