Grading System at Tremont High School
As each class at Tremont High School approaches their senior year, they are finding out that they are at a huge disadvantage when it comes to applying for college admission. Furthermore, the grading policy at Tremont High School is encouraging students to take easy classes, which does not properly prepare them for college. Unfortunately for the students, by the time they are applying to colleges, it is far too late to do anything about the problem. That is why I encourage all of the underclassmen and incoming freshman to act now.
This drastic disadvantage is the result of the misleading grading system here at Tremont High School. At Tremont, we have one of the hardest grading scales you can find at the high school level (Rediehs). In addition to being put up against a vigorous grading scale, we also operate on a 4 point grading system, which is far outdated.

While our grading system makes Tremont students look bad on college applications, it also discourages students from challenging themselves in high school by taking college level classes. Tremont High School must change the grading system before any more damage is done to the students.
The normal grading scale at Tremont High School is composed of twelve letter grades (A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, F), with each letter grade corresponding to a specific range of percentages.
